Before each sharpening, the whetstone needs to be moistened with a suitable amount of water before use. Each whetstone comes with a protective box for storing the knife stone, which also serves as a non-slip seat for the whetstone.
No need to soak it in water when using it, just sprinkle it with water and use it directly.
Detailed introduction：
Oilstones, also called water stones or whetstones, are used to sharpen and hone the edge of knives. Even the best kitchen knives will lose their initial sharpness over time. The combination whetstone includes two grits. It is perfect for amateur chefs who need to sharpen occasionally. Sharpening equipment and the right technique will make the task of sharpening easy. Oilstones come in different degrees, depending on the grain of the stone. Fine-grained whetstones are dense and less sharp, but allow for adjustments on the edge. In contrast, a coarse-grained edge removes more material from the cutting edge. The higher the grain reference number, the smaller the grain size.
- 220-400: Coarse stone. Reshape or repair chips, put an edge on very dull knives. Knife sharpeners are not recommended for beginners as they are abrasive and will scrape off a lot of material.
- 800-2000: Medium grit. Keep your knife sharp with regular sharpening. (#1000 is most commonly used in daily life)
- 3000-8000: Fine grit. Grinds smoothly, high grit polishes well and is sharp
- 10000-12000: Extra fine grit. Used for mirror polishing. We recommend using several whetstones with different grits (coarse, medium, fine) to achieve the perfect sharpening effect
